Getting ready before a big night out is all part of the fun. The pre-partying preening rituals often require forward-planning and a good amount of time (no one wants to do their hair or makeup in a hurry.)
Turns out - our beauty regimes cost us a lot more than we might think. £40,000 to be precise.
A survey carried out by online hair and beauty retailer Hairtrade.com asked 540 British women between the ages of 18 and 50 how much they spend on beauty products before a night out.
The results showed that almost £40,000 is splurged throughout a woman's lifetime. If that figure is just too much to process, here's how it looks broken down...

- £1, 248 a year
The biggest expense? Fake tan, which was closely followed by manicures and blow dries.
Speaking about the study, a spokesperson from Hairtrade.com said, "It is nice to make a big effort every now and again. There's no reason why you shouldn't treat yourself to a bit of pampering before a night out."
We totally agree - but now we've seen the figures in full? It might be time to curb that blow dry habit...
