Britney Spears’ dad Jamie will not face action over allegations he assaulted her son, due to a lack of evidence.

The singer’s ex-husband, Kevin Federline, had accused Jamie of assaulting his and Britney’s 13-year-old son Sean last month.

However, a statement from the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office has said the matter will not be taken any further.

“After reviewing the evidence, there is insufficient proof that a criminal offence was committed by Mr Spears,” they explained.

Until recently, Britney had been under the conservatorship of her father for more than a decade.

He stepped down as her legal conservator earlier this month, at his own request, citing “personal health reasons”, as reported by the LA Times.

Britney’s longtime care manager Jodi Montgomery will now be legally in charge of the star until the end of January 2020.

Earlier this year, Britney announced an “indefinite work hiatus”, which included the cancellation of her planned Domination residency in Las Vegas, saying at she had made the decision to “devote all of her time to her family and their efforts to care for her father during his recovery from a recent life-threatening illness”.

Three months later, it was reported that Britney had checked into a mental health facility, with the singer eventually being forced to speak out to assure fans that “all is well”, following speculation that she was being held against her will.

Alongside a video message, she wrote on Instagram: “I wanted to say hi, because things that are being said have just gotten out of control!!! Wow!!! There’s rumors, death threats to my family and my team, and just so many things crazy things being said.

“I am trying to take a moment for myself, but everything that’s happening is just making it harder for me. Don’t believe everything you read and hear.”
