A British tourist is in hospital with life-threatening stab wounds after a dispute at a sex spa, Las Vegas police said.
The attack on the Briton, named by abc2news as Joseph Sheriff, took place at a Las Vegas business licensed as a health spa, but that investigators believe was really a front for prostitution.
Five women and a man were arrested when police arrived after the attack a little before 6am on Sunday at Red Devil Fitness and Spa.
Officer Marcus Martin said the attacker fled before police arrived. According to arrest reports, Sheriff was stabbed several times by a security guard after becoming agitated and throwing a bottle of water at one of the female employees.
Sherrif, 25, was taken to University Medical Centre in a critical condition.
Officer Martin said a dispute erupted over an implied promise of sex for money at the business several blocks west of the Las Vegas Strip.
He said: “The guy argued when it became clear it was a scam, that nothing was going to happen.”
Prostitution is legal in some rural Nevada counties, but not in Las Vegas and Reno.
