Modern video games reach a certain level of absurdity once they get to a certain level of popularity.
Last week it was Call of Duty and the fact that it's now been played for roughly the same timespan as all of human history.
Now it's the turn of Candy Crush Saga, which has just hit its first anniversary and its 500,000,000th download. That's half a billion downloads.
Developers of the ubiquitous sweet-themed puzzle game, King also released the following stats:
- 150 billion games of Candy Crush Saga have been played - about 20 per person alive
- One in 23 Facebook users plays Candy Crush
- Most people play CCS on Sundays
- Level 65 is the hardest and "most notorious level"
Meanwhile Kind said that fans can "look forward to even more exciting new Candy Crush Saga content over the coming months, including an exciting new twist to the game".
(Hint: that twist will not be that the game actually ends.)
