“I am beyond excited to be taking part in the best programme on British telly and have been a huge fan since it started,” Carol said.
“ I can't wait to learn to dance and hope my experience on Strictly will be a breeze, whether it will be or not is one forecast I cannot predict.”
As well as her weather presenting duties for ‘BBC Breakfast’, Carol has also fronted ‘The Weather Show’ for the BBC News Channel and was a co-presenter on BBC One's ‘The Great British Weather’.
The 53-year-old also reports the weather every day on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2.
This won’t be Carol’s first time dancing on TV as she has previously both sung and danced for Children in Need.
She appeared as part of the Newsreader’s Rocky Horror Show routine and even did a duet with ex-'Strictly' Champion Chris Hollins performing 'Baby, It’s Cold Outside' during the appeal show back in 2007.
'EastEnders' star Kellie Bright will also be taking to the 'Strictly' dancefloor
Jeremy Vine was the first star confirmed for the new series of 'Strictly' last week, and he later admitted, in a blog on HuffPost UK, that he “truly, madly deeply wants to learn to dance”, as an avid fan of music.
Ainsley Harriott and ‘EastEnders’ actress Kellie Bright will also be taking part, as well as former ‘Coronation Street’ star Georgia May Foote and broadcaster Katie Derham.
More celebs are set to be announced this week.
