According to reports Kate Middleton's mum, Carole cornered Prince William one Christmas telling him to put a ring on it, stat!
Family sources say, a nervous Carole was beside herself that Wills had failed to make an honest women of her daughter so had a "quite word" with him in 2009.
It seems whatever she said had an impact on the future king, as the couple announced their engagement the following November and got hitched in 2011.
Now, after the birth of their first child it seems new granny Carole is far from taking a backseat. While the Duchess of Cambridge was out on royal business on Friday she told how the new prince was being looked after by his doting grandmother.
"George has been very good and sleeping well. He's with granny at the moment," Kate told well-wishers as she visited Anglesey with William. "He's sleeping well but I know these things change at a minute's notice."
