Carrie Symonds has denied reports she wants rid of the puppy she adopted with Boris Johnson.

According to The Times, the prime minister and his fiancee have “grown weary” of Dilyn.

“I’m not sure that dog is going to make it through the next reshuffle,” one source told the paper. “For a while there was dog shit everywhere in the flat.”

But Symonds tweeted on Wednesday morning that the story was “total crap”.

“There has never been a happier, healthier and more loved dog than our Dilyn,” she said.

Dilyn, a Jack Russell, moved into Downing Street in September of last year and was often seen on the campaign trail during the general election.

The rescue dog came from the Friends of Animals Wales charity, which said at the time he “will be living his best life” in No.10.

Last month Symonds and Johnson announced they were expecting a baby and would be getting married.

Symmonds told her followers on Instagram she felt “incredibly blessed”.

She said she and Johnson got engaged at the end of last year “and we’ve got a baby hatching early summer”.

Johnson, 55, and Symonds, 31, made history as the first unmarried couple to officially live together in Downing Street when they moved in last year.
