A cringe-worthy Tim Tams commercial starring Cate Blanchett has emerged online - though with a Best Actress Oscar sitting on her mantelpiece, the Aussie star probably won’t be too bothered.
Cate, who took home the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in ‘Blue Jasmine’ at Sunday’s ceremony, plays the main character in the ad for the Australian biscuit brand, which is thought to have been made in the mid-1990s.
With a Best Actress Oscar in the bag, will Cate be bothered by the re-emergence of this ad?
The embarrassing vid shows Cate getting pretty passionate about the biscuity treat after requesting “a packet of Tim Tams that never runs out” from a magical genie. Inventive, right?
Even with the orgasmic facial expression as she chomps into a Tim Tam, Cate’s role is definitely not the most cringey moment of the ad - that award goes to her co-star who asks the genie for “two more” endless packets.
Luckily for Cate - although it was a terrible loss for Australian ad breaks - she was cast in a number of high profile film roles shortly after the clip was made.
