IN A NUTSHELL: Fast used the medium of a 29-line poem, written by himself, to explain his Spring/Summer 2012 collection, the gist of which was intense tropical colour rising mirage like from the arid desert. And, Fast being Fast, this scene manifested itself in an array of intricate crochet and knitted form-fitting dresses.
BEG, BORROW OR STEAL: The sandy, metallic crocheted evening gowns will be spectacular in magazine shoot (it a tad tricky to pull off in real life). We also loved all the shimmying bright yellow knitted mini-dresses - very fun and totally Kylie-tastic.
F-ROW: Eliza Doolittle (sporting a hairdo that paid homage to Minnie Mouse) - we expect to see her on stage in one of Fast's creations pronto.
VERDICT: Mark Fast's designs tend to have the Marmite effect on fashion peeps, and true, orange skin-tight knitted dresses aren't everyone's cup of tea - but perhaps that's because they're more Rio sunshine than rainy London. And for our money's worth, a little slice of tropical sunshine and fun goes a long way at London Fashion Week. We just wish Fast would stick to the fashion and give the poetry a miss...
