The Australian government takes swearing very seriously, even going so far as to propose a fine for anyone heard saying a rudey-word in the street at point.

But as for the Australian Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy? Well it seems the rules are a little different for him.

Speaking on live TV at National Press Club in Canberra about foreign investors putting their money into Australia, he used these words:

"I love the debate about sovereign risk," he said. "If a tax goes up, God, that is sovereign risk. But if a tax goes down, f*cking fantastic."

That's right, the Australian broadcast standards minister dropped the f-bomb - for no discernable reason - on television. Before a kids' show, in fact. This is the very same guy who's proposed very harsh rules on internet access, and has at one point been named "Internet villian of the year".

Quickly dropping in an "excuse me", it's caused many a red face in Australia's ruling Labor party, and prompted, no doubt, more than a few f-bombs from the Australian public themselves...
