Police searching for missing Charlotte Bevan have discovered the body of a newborn baby girl, just hours after the body of Charlotte was formally identified.
Charlotte, 30, disappeared from Bristol Maternity Hospital carrying her newborn daughter Zaani Tiana at 9pm on Tuesday (December 2).
Police searching for them found Charlotte's body in Avon Gorge yesterday (Wednesday) and today found the body of a newborn baby girl close by.
Police are yet to confirm the baby's identity, but say they are 'confident' it is Zaani.
Charlotte walked out of the hospital wearing slippers and did not have a coat. Zaani was wrapped in a blanket.
Charlotte's body was discovered after a member of the public spotted the hospital slippers on the gorge while out walking.
Shortly after her disappearance, Charlotte's partner Pascal appealed for her to come home. He told a press conference:
"Charlotte, please come back, you're welcome any time. The last two days as a family was amazing and I really want to do that for much longer. I'm waiting for you."
It is believed Chalotte may have stopped taking medication for depression so that she could breastfeed Zaani. She is also understood to have been treated for schizophrenia.
