After just one episode, Cheat quickly became one of our favourite dramas of the year so far, so the second instalment could not come soon enough.
Luckily for us, the powers that be at ITV decided to strip the whole thing across four nights, meaning there was not a long wait before university lecturer Leah and twisted student Rose continued their game of cat and mouse.
Here are the questions we’re now asking after episode two...
Was Leah digging up the ground to bury the cat or Adam?
In one early scene – the timeline for which was not made clear – Leah seemed to be digging some sort of grave. Was this simply for her now-deceased cat, or for her soon-to-be-deceased fiancé, who we already know is set to meet his maker, after a flash-forward at the end of episode one?
Why does Adam have such belief in Rose over his own fiancée?
He is so not loyal, babes.
How the hell has Rose managed to get a room that big in uni halls?
Seriously, no room in halls was ever that big when we were at university.
What was in the file that Ben left in Rose’s room?
While Leah was in the room, Ben let himself in and left a file on Rose’s desk, but its contents have remained a mystery. We saw Rose ask him for another favour in episode one that was unresolved, so are the two connected?
What is Rose’s connection to Leah?
It was revealed Rose appeared in a photo of Leah and Adam that had been taken at a Halloween party at least three years before she’d even started at the university, suggesting she’d crossed paths with the couple way before.
While there were attempts to explain this away by Rose having a family connection to the local area, we’re not buying that as the reason why she was at the party – so what is?
What else is in Rose’s lockbox?
We know she has a photo of Leah and her dad in there, along with Leah’s stolen wedding ring, but could the other contents of the lockbox reveal more clues as to Rose’s connection to Leah?
How did the photo of Leah and her dad come to be in Rose’s possession?
When Leah questioned her dad as to where the picture of them at her graduation was, he claimed it had fallen off the wall, breaking the frame.
This was presumably the same photo that has ended up in Rose’s lockbox, so did Leah’s dad give it to her (for whatever reason), or did she break into his house and steal it?
Given we questioned the history of their relationship after the first episode, this only adds to our suspicions.
Will Rose and Adam end up sleeping together?
We could easily see this being the next chapter of the story, and if Adam were to give into temptation, it would certainly give Leah motive to murder him.
Did Leah actually receive the dirty picture of Adam that he sent Rose?
Or were we just lead to believe she had seen it, when in actual fact she could have been just waiting for a different picture to come through? But if it is the picture we think it might be, what the hell does Leah do next?
