Cheryl Cole was used to having either her Girls Aloud bandmates or Simon Cowell at her side when she graced red carpets.

But last night she upgraded them for one of Hollywood's biggest stars as she attended the European premiere of What To Expect When You're Expecting with Cameron Diaz. New BBF alert!

And she may be in the film for all of about three seconds, but Chezza still managed to steal all the limelight from Cam as the pair took to the red carpet together in matching cream outfits at London's BFI Imax.

Not that Cameron would have minded though, as she and the rest of her co-stars were falling over themselves to gush about how blooming uh-may-zin our national treasure is.

Cameron told us at the event: "She's fantastic, she's so lovely and she did us a huge favour by coming in letting us sequester her for a couple of days and take her out to an old abandoned warehouse in Atlanta and make her act for us."

"She's talented and I'm sure this is the beginning of many (film roles) for her. She can do whatever she wants to do."

Chez appears in the film as a talent show judge, and she filmed her cameo appearance shortly after she was unceremoniously dumped from The X Factor USA.

Glee's Matthew Morrison, who also stars in the film, isn't sure Mr Cowell made the right decision in axing her.

"Judging from what she did, she had to do a lot of ad libbing and had to give criticism to us as dancers and was so good at it," he said.

"I'm sure he had his reasons that we don't know of, but I thought she was really good in her role as a judge."

And despite rumours she was axed from the show as viewers couldn't understand her Geordie accent (ah doonent knaa what you're on aboot, pet), Gossip Girl star Chace Crawford, who plays Marco in the film, told HuffPost Celeb it's part of the reason he's fallen for the singer.

"She's beautiful, talented, young. The accent is what makes her special," he said.

Also completing the line-up on the red carpet at the premiere was Twilight star Anna Kendrick, who, surprise surprise, was full of praise for "sincere Cheryl". Oooh, that does have a nice ring to it.

Recalling the first time she saw La Cole, she said: "The first episode of X Factor I ever saw was where she she changed her mind last minute at judges house and picked Joe McElderry instead of someone else.

"It was this strange thing where you realised it was actually sincere and she wasn't just doing it for the cameras or for the show and she stayed up all night worrying about these contestants.

"It's interesting to see such a human quality in what is a staged reality show. She comes across as so sincere."

Well there you go. All the Americans LOVE Cheryl, just like we do. Bet you're regretting that decision now, eh Simon?
