Cheryl Cole is on course to claim the fastest-selling single of 2012, marking a successful return to the music charts for the former X Factor judge.
The star's latest song Call My Name has sold 97,000 copies since its release on Sunday, launching it to the top of the midweek chart update and putting it on track to claim the number one spot this weekend.
The up-beat track, which has been written and produced by Calvin Harris, is the singer's first release under the name of simply Cheryl.
It's now set to knock Take That singer Gary Barlow and his Commonwealth Band's recent Diamond Jubilee single Sing down to Number Three, reports the Official Charts Company.
Cheryl's previous singles Fight For This Love and Promise This also went to number one in 2010, however her live solo performances are yet to receive a great critical reception.
During her appearance on The Voice final last month thousands of fans tweeted that she lip-synced her single Call My Name and when she sang with Gary Barlow at the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Concert she was slated once again.
However, earlier this week she admitted to The Sun newspaper: "I am very aware of my ability, I know I’m no Mariah Carey but I think the emotion in the song is what matters."
Her third solo album A Million Lights is out on 18 June 2012, which she calls her best work yet.
