An eight-year-old girl is able to hear clearly for the first time after being fitted with a revolutionary hearing aid.
Kennedy Parkin from Sheffield, who is a child model, was born with part of her ear canal missing, and has never enjoyed clear hearing.
Now, after treatment at Sheffield Children's Hospital, sounds are transmitted directly to her inner ear via a device attached to her skull.
Kennedy said the revolutionary hearing aid - which is fixed to a tiny peg on her head and joined to a connecting button - meant it was a "lot louder at school" but that she liked it because she could now sit with her friends rather than at the front of the class, struggling to hear.
Her mum Paula, 37, told the Sheffield Telegraph: "Kennedy's life has been changed forever by this treatment. When her hearing aid was switched on for the first time, she was beaming as she was to be able to hear in her left ear for the first time."
Anna James, chief audiologist at Sheffield Children's Hospital said: "Kennedy is one of the first patients in Sheffield, to have the treatment. We are delighted to be able to help."
Wow, amazing - imagine suddenly being able to hear after all that time!
