Chris Froome has taken the overall lead in the Critérium du Dauphiné after winning the fifth stage of the race.
Froome began the day just five seconds behind Rohan Dennis, but has opened up a 52-second lead over Team Sky teammate Richie Porte and will wear the yellow jersey after crushing Alberto Contador on the final kilometre.
The 28-year-old caught and passed Contador in dramatic fashion in what is a notable boost ahead of the Tour de France.
Contador is one of cycling's climbing specialists and a two-time Tour winner.
The Critérium ends on Sunday with another mountain top finale at Risoul.
