Chrissie Hynde told HuffPostUK recently that all she ever wanted to do was "play guitar in a rock band".

Her enduring love for getting down in the studio is certainly in evidence in brand new exclusive clips of The Pretenders star behind the scenes, showing her hard at work on her first ever solo album 'Stockholm' - so named after her collaboration with Swedish co-writer and producer Bjorn Yttling.

The clips tell the story of how the album came into being, including Chrissie's first doubts about the collaboration. "I've got nothing," she told Bjorn. His response? To whistle into his phone, apparently... Chrissie takes up the story below...

As for all "the other stuff" as Chrissie calls the touring, the press bit, the fame aspect, well.. "I’ll have to stomach seeing my name on a marquee" is how she puts it. "My name is the bargaining chip. Success means still being allowed to do it."

The proof is in the pudding, with Chrissie's new album 'Stockholm' out on 10 June in Europe (the day before in the US). Watch the video for the first single below...
