LadBaby On Course To Beat Mariah Carey In 2020 Christmas Number One Race

Mariah's All I Want For Christmas Is You topped the UK charts for the first time in 26 years this month.

After two weeks at the top of the UK singles chart, it looks like Mariah Carey could be about to lose her grip on the number one spot in the lead-up to Christmas.

It may have taken 26 years, but Mariah’s festive hit All I Want For Christmas Is You finally reached number one in the UK charts earlier this month, and due to high streaming numbers, managed to hold its reign for two weeks running.

However, with the race for the Christmas number one now officially on for 2020, the Official Charts Company has revealed that LadBaby has made a “flying start”.

They said that the duo – made up of husband and wife Mark and Roxanne Hoyle – “have an impressive lead” on the Christmas number one race with their new parody song Don’t Stop Me Eatin’, a rewritten version of Journey’s Don’t Stop Believin’.

LadBaby has topped the UK charts at Christmas for the last two years, with their hits We Built This City and I Love Sausage Rolls.

Like their previous two songs, proceeds from Don’t Stop Me Eatin’ will once more benefit food bank charity The Trussell Trust.

The rest of the top five looks set to be made up entirely of Christmas songs, with pop singer and Sexy Fish frequenter Jess Glynne’s This Christmas on course to reach number two.

Mariah and Wham! look set to fall to numbers three and four with their Christmas staples, All I Want For Christmas Is You and Last Christmas.

Meanwhile, the release of physical copies of Liam Gallagher’s All You’re Dreaming Of has boosted its sales figures, with the song currently on track to hit number five, up 54 places from the previous week’s chart.

This year’s Christmas number one will be announced during the Radio 1 chart show, airing between 2pm and 4pm on Christmas Day.
