Christopher Kane Invites Us To An Underground Rave For Versus A/W 2012

WHO?Versus, Versace's younger, edgier sister.

IN A NUTSHELL: "The Versus girl is tough, and has a confident punk attitude," read the show notes. Cue a gritty series of printed mini dresses, boots (either thigh-high or ankle) and sharp tailoring, complete with leather, lace-up cut-outs and goth-glam embellishment. Miss Versus also went a little bit grungy on us for Autumn/Winter 2012, with baggy jeans, string vests and tye-die also making an appearance. Eyes were dramatic: dark, lined and heavy on the shadow, while hair was super-long and poker straight. Further influences included "a mix of underground street styles, rock music, teenage angst and youthful experimentation..." Ooh-err.

BEG, BORROW OR STEAL: We fell head over heels for the maroon dress coat with black leather sleeves (pictured above)

VERDICT: You don't want to mess with Christopher Kane's Versus girl. We were met with the sound of a dripping tap as we entered the show space, complete with faux patches of water on the catwalk and heavy iron shutters: this is the kind of girl you'll find hanging out at dingy underground warehouse raves. Tough, hard and with a confident sense of sexuality, she's back with a vengeance for Autumn/Winter 2012. We just can't help but wish for a little bit less Donatella, and a tiny bit more Christopher Kane. Then we'd have a serious style crush.
