A 56-year-old man is suing a hospital after claiming a doctors mistakenly amputated his penis during a routine circumcision.
Johnny Lee Banks Jr, of Birmingham, Alabama, filed a suit on Tuesday suing the Princeton Baptist Medical Centre for medical malpractice, the Associated Press reports.
The suit, which is seeking an unspecified amount of compensation, also claims his wife Zelda is also suffering, following the procedure in June.
It names the hospital, a urology group, a medical clinic and two doctors as defendants.

“When the plaintiff… awoke from his aforesaid surgical procedure, his penis was amputated,” AL News cites the lawsuit as stating.
It adds the plaintiff “never gave consent for the complete or partial amputation of (his) penis.”
A spokesman for the hospital’s parent company told Reuters that Banks’s allegations were without merit.
Karen DeWitt Daren added: “We intend to defend all counts aggressively.”
