She took some persuading to sign up for the new series of the ITV drama.

'Cold Feet' star Hermione Norris has revealed she did not originally want to return for the show's upcoming revival.

The actress will reprise her role as Karen Marsden in the hit comedy drama, when it returns to ITV after a 13-year break later this year.

However, Hermione has admitted she took some persuading to sign up, alongside co-stars James Nesbitt, Fay RipleyRobert Bathurst and John Thomson.

Asked by Radio Times if she liked the idea of returning to 'Cold Feet, she said: "I didn’t, to be honest."

She went on: "It was really good, of its time, and I didn’t want to undo anything positive that we had created back then.

"But I was persuaded it would be interesting to see how they have been dealing with things."

‘Cold Feet’ first aired in 1997 and ran for five series, telling the story of three couples in their 30s as they juggled their way through life.

The new series will answer questions about what the characters have been up to over the last 13 years, most notably how Adam has been coping since the death of his partner Rachel Bradley (Helen Baxendale), who was involved in a road accident in the last series.

James, who plays Adam, previously revealed the show will feature a tribute to Helen's character, telling ITV News: "To be without her has been sad really, we just wanted to get a little tribute into her in the first episode which I hope she sees."

The cast will be joined by new additions James Bolam, Karen David, Leanne Best and Art Malik, who will all be taking on significant roles, details of which are being kept secret until closer to transmission.

Filming on the new series is currently underway, and it set to air on ITV in the autumn.
