Coleen and Wayne Rooney have welcomed their third son into the world.
The wife of Manchester United and England captain Wayne gave birth to their third child today, the baby weighing 8lb 1oz.
Rooney announced the arrival of Kit Joseph Rooney on Twitter.
He said: “Our gorgeous little boy arrived today. Kit Joseph Rooney. 8Ib 1oz. We are over the moon.”
The childhood sweethearts, who married in Italy in 2008, already have two sons - Kai, six, and two-year-old Klay.
It is believed that Coleen, 29, was admitted to the Liverpool Women’s Hospital yesterday ahead of the birth as Wayne, 30, captained Manchester United at Old Trafford.
The side lost to Southampton 1-0.
The couple had announced that Coleen was expecting in July with simultaneous tweets on their Twitter pages.
In a previous interview, Coleen told OK! Magazine they would "definitely not" find out the sex of their baby.
But she told the magazine said she would "love a girl because it would complete the family".
She added: "Hopefully the anticipation of the sex will make the labour go a bit quicker.”
However, earlier this week Coleen took to social media to say that she was still waiting to go into labour.
On January 18 she tweeted: “No baby yet!! .... Hurry up!! ..... Too comfy."
The footballer also took to social media to post a throwback photo of the family when Klay was born.
Alongside the snapshot, which also shows Coleen and the couple’s eldest child Kai, Wayne wrote: "#TBT – Family picture after Klay was born. Not long left until the new addition is here! #Family."
Just two minutes after Wayne posted his tweet, Coleen repeated the message adding in exclamation marks and a blue love heart emoji.
The tweet has been shared and favourited thousands of times.
Wellwishers soon began congratulating the couple on Twitter.
Enna Davies @xjennalee99x said: "Aww another boy for Wayne Rooney and Coleen".
Meanwhile, Twitter user David Lyon @Daveyboylyon made light of the name.
He tweeted: "Coleen: 'Wayne, don't forget Kit' Rooney: 'I'm already wearing my kit... Oh.... Yeah, him'".
The couple have opted to keep the name of their newborn son in line with their other children, making it a hat-trick of names that all begin with the letter K - much like the Kardashian clan.
