‘Coronation Street’ Star Bill Roache Defends Move To Air Six Episodes A Week

The veteran actor has weighed in on the debate.

‘Coronation Street’ veteran Bill Roache has defended the soap’s bosses over the decision to air six episodes a week from 2017.

Ever since the news was announced, there’s been plenty of talk about how the cast and crew will cope with an extra half-hour to make each week, but Bill reckons everyone will do just fine.

While Bill is confident that there’ll be no issues, others have shared their doubts, including former ‘Corrie’ star Roy Barraclough, who previously stated: “The actors will not be able to cope, so they will inevitably have to get in more actors to play more characters. With such a huge cast it is very difficult to pull that off.

“Of course it can be done, but just how well is another matter.

“It is a mistake, it’s pure overkill.”
