’Coronation Street’ producers have denied they are trying to lure Alison King back to the soap.
The actress, who played Carla Connor, only left the cobbles as the Underworld factory boss six months ago, and The Sun had claimed she was already being eyed for a potential return.
However, a ‘Corrie’ spokesperson has told HuffPost UK there “is no truth” to the reports, adding there has been no talks or plans for a potential return.
They did admit Alison had recently visited the show’s Salford studios, but insisted it was just to catch up with friends.
The Sun’s story claimed the soap’s new executive producer Kate Oates was “gutted” Alison had quit her role before she took up her post.
A source told the paper: “Kate is a big fan of Alison and is keen to get her back full-time as she loved her character.
Alison first announced she was was taking an “extended break” from ‘Corrie’ in May 2015, but later confirmed her exit would actually be permanent.
Her character departed screens after 10 years in May, after Carla crashed her car into the Platt’s house, leading to the discovery of Callum Logan’s body.
Explaining her decision to leave to Radio Times earlier this year, Alison said: “I’ve probably only ever done about 20 pick-ups or drop-offs in all the time my daughter’s been at school, which is quite sad.
