‘Coronation Street’ Legend Roy Barraclough Slams Plan To Air Six Episodes A Week

'I don’t wish them ill but I fear it will all end in tears – the quality is bound to suffer.'

‘Coronation Street’ producer Kate Oates may be confident that the decision to air six episodes of the soap a week is a good one, but ‘Corrie’ legend Roy Barraclough definitely doesn’t agree.

The news divided fans when it was announced back in June, and Roy, whose character Alec Gilroy was a Weatherfield resident for 22 years, has now had his say.

The plans won’t come into effect until late 2017, and the current 7.7 acre studio is being extended, to accommodate the extra filming.

The major change came just a few months into Kate Oates’ ongoing tenure as executive producer, and she’s also announced a number of other cast changes, as well as big storyline plans for the summer.
