'Corrie' Stars Turn Out For Helen Worth's Wedding

There was a soap wedding with a happy ending when Coronation Street's Helen Worth tied the knot in a star-studded ceremony - an event which Gail Platt could perhaps only dream of.

The bride, who plays Platt in the soap, arrived at the church in central London just a few minutes late in a silver Mercedes. She greeted bystanders who were waiting to catch a glimpse of the famous faces.

Dressed in a green silk and lace Bruce Oldfield gown, 62-year-old Worth looked calm as she posed for photographers outside the venue, raising her bouquet in the air before entering the church to marry teacher Trevor Dawson.

It's seventh time lucky for Helen Worth - who, with her five screen marriages and previous real-life one, will be walking down the aisle once more.

Before the bride's arrival, a veritable who's who of the Coronation Street cobbles made their way into St James's Church in Piccadilly, including members of Worth's on-screen family.

Sue Nicholls, who plays Platt's mother Audrey, arrived to watch her colleague's nuptials, as well as Ben Price and Jack P Shepherd, who play her sons Nick and David.

Other celebrities at the ceremony included musical theatre star Elaine Paige, actress Lynda Bellingham and Coronation Street stars including Alan Halsall, Alison King and Shobna Gulati, who has just joined the Loose Women panel.

Samia Ghadie arrived with her partner Sylvain Longchambon, who she danced with on the most recent series of Dancing On Ice.

Worth, who lives in London, was showered in confetti as she left the church with her new husband and they set off on the short journey to The Ritz hotel for their wedding reception.

Guests were ferried to the famous hotel aboard two vintage double decker buses.
