Michelle Keegan is about to leave ‘Coronation Street’ in a grisly 'Whodunit' storyline, but her character’s tale will continue to unfold long after she’s gone with the arrival of Tina McIntyre’s mum.
Up until now, Tina’s mum has never ever been mentioned on the soap. We'd been assuming Tina hatched out of an egg, or perhaps they found her in a cabbage patch.
According to OK! the new character will be arriving on the cobbles following Tina’s murder later this year, upset and looking for answers.

Luckily, Tina’s close friend and confidante Rita Tanner is at hand to take the grieving mother under her wing, reassuring her: “Tina was well looked after round here, she was cared for.”
Tina’s mum, Anna, will be played by Lorraine Hodgson, whose previous credits include ‘Holby City’ and ‘EastEnders’.
Her character will discuss her grief in a chat with Rita, in scenes that will air later this year, saying: “You expect it to be different with girls. A son’s a son until he takes a wife, a daughter’s a daughter all of her life.
“I was in labour for 22 hours with her. I held her in my arms and promised I would always look out for her."
We hope that when the character makes her soap debut, we at least get a brief explanation of where she’s been all these years.
Michelle recently filmed her final scenes for the soap, and celebrated her exit with a chav-themed fancy dress party attended by the show’s cast and crew, including stars Kym Marsh, Brooke Vincent and Ryan Thomas.
Michelle's fiancé Mark Wright was with her while she filmed her exit scenes, tweeting that she was a “truly talented girl” from the set.
Georgia May Foote - who plays young mum Katy Armstrong in the soap - recently rejected claims that she was being lined up to be “the next Michelle Keegan”.
