The number of people who have died across the UK after testing positive for coronavirus has risen to 43,514 – an increase of 100 over 24 hours.

The figures cover the period up to 5pm on Friday, but the true number of deaths may be significantly different. Here’s a quick primer on what all the different numbers mean and how to understand them.

Meanwhile, the government has not published the number of people who have been tested for coronavirus for several weeks.

The figure for the number of people tested has been “temporarily paused to ensure consistent reporting” across all methods of testing.
