Six men are due to be sentenced over a multimillion-pound crash-for-cash scam.

The men from London and Manchester attempted to defraud insurers out of around £5.6 million by setting up a claims management company, Herald Claims Limited, to file fraudulent or inflated insurance claims after a crash.

The Metropolitan Police said they also recruited car owners who would be willing to hand over their cars to be deliberately crashed into - commonly referred to as the stooge vehicle.

Samoon Baryali, from Barnet; Yousaf Haider, of Newham in London; and Afaq Anjum Njum, from Salford in Lancashire were found guilty of two counts of conspiracy to defraud following a month-long trial at Isleworth Crown Court in July, Scotland Yard said.

Mohammad Farshad Samoon, also from Barnet, was found guilty of one count of conspiracy to defraud.

Muhammad Akik Miah, from Hounslow in London, and Jalid Hanadzai, from Barnet, pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to one count of conspiracy to defraud.

They will be sentenced at Isleworth Crown Court in west London.
