A dad was run over and killed seven hours after he got married.
William Knight – who had two daughters and a stepson - was driving back from his wedding reception with his wife Nikki on Saturday when he stopped to help a woman motorist who had slid off the road in the snow.
The 49-year-old pulled over near Crown Point, Indiana, when he saw Linda Darlington, 42, with her vehicle.
Mrs Knight told local newshe had said: "We've got to stop, it's late and they need help."
Mr Knight was standing on the side of the road with Ms Darlington when they were hit by a car before two other vehicles ploughed into them.
Mrs Knight had stayed in her vehicle but rushed to her husband's aid when she saw the collision.
She said neither her husband or Ms Darlington had a pulse. The emergency services pronounced the pair dead at the scene not long after.
Mrs Knight said: "I went from a being a newlywed to a widow in less than 48 hours – the highest high to the lowest low."
