Dale Winton Laid To Rest After Star-Studded, Non-Religious Funeral

Tuesday would have been his 63rd birthday.

Dale Winton has been laid to rest following a non-religious funeral on Tuesday. 

The TV presenter was remembered at a humanist ceremony attended by a host of his showbiz friends on what would have been his 63rd birthday.

David Walliams, Gloria Hunniford, Christopher Biggins, Matt Lucas, Steve Allen, Anthea Turner, Vanessa Feltz, Graeme Souness, Tony Blackburn, and Piers Morgan were among those who attended the ceremony at Old Church, One Marylebone in London. 

David - a close friend of Dale’s - gave a reading, as did former ‘EastEnders’ star Martine McCutcheon.

Boyband Blue performed their hit ‘One Love’, while former ‘Brookside’ actress Claire Sweeney sang ‘Alfie’, which was recorded by Dale’s late friend Cilla Black in 1965.

Dale’s godsons Josh, Ben and Louis Linsey also gave a tribute, as did comedian Jon Culshaw.

Dale passed away at his home in Totteridge, north London, on 18 April, with police later confirming his death was not being treated as suspicious. 

However, his cause of death has yet to be confirmed.

In the wake of the tragic news, many of Dale’s peers from the world of television began sharing their memories of him, including fellow stars Davina McCall and West End singer Michael Ball. 

Best known for his work on the gameshow ‘Supermarket Sweep’, Dale later went on to host programmes like ‘The National Lottery: In It To Win It’, ‘Hole In The Wall’ and ‘Celebrity Fit Club’.

More recently, he filmed a four-part travel documentary for Channel 5 entitled ’Dale Winton’s Florida Fly Drive’.
