Daniel Radcliffe is reportedly eyeing a role in the next instalment of the James Bond film series.

However, rather than following in the footsteps of Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig, the ‘Harry Potter’ actor is more keen to play a villain rather than Bond himself - which is bad news for any fans of his hoping to catch a glimpse of him coming out of the ocean in a pair of Speedos.

“He feels he could appear as a modern bad guy, an evil mastermind who wants to take down MI5. And like the old Bond films, he hopes the role may be recurring.”

And he isn't the only star to have expressed an interest in playing a 'Bond' villain, as last year Dame Helen Mirren revealed that she too would like to face off against James Bond in a future film.

The next film in the ‘Bond’ franchise is currently slated for a 2015 release, and will see Sam Mendes returning after the massive success of ‘Skyfall’.

Daniel Craig will once again be reprising the role of 007 - his fourth time playing James Bond - while rumours circulated earlier this year that Oscar-winning actress Penelope Cruz would be making an appearance in the new film.

The project is due to begin filming in November, with plans for a release in October next year.

Meanwhile, even if Daniel Radcliffe thinks he’s menacing enough to play a Bond villain he’s about to hit screens in a far less intimidating part, playing the soppy lead in forthcoming romantic comedy ‘What If’ which is scheduled to hit UK cinemas in August.
