Danny Dyer has spoken for the first time about his bizarre appearance at the TV Choice Awards last month, where he appeared confused during his Best Soap Actor acceptance speech and was accused of 'manhandling' ‘Great British Bake Off’ judge Mary Berry.
Although video footage at the time appeared to show the ‘EastEnders’ actor getting a bit carried away with Mary when he appeared on stage with the rest of the series’ cast to collect the award for Best Soap, the editor of TV Choice denied this at the time, and now Danny has explained himself further.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz, he explained: “Mary ain't got a problem with me. I think she's lovely and I love her. I respect her and I just wanted to give her a cuddle, that's it.
“People said I accosted her and I was really upset as I love Mary Berry, and everything about her.”

He also blamed his uncomfortable Best Soap Actor speech - where he hit out at presenter David Mitchell, suggesting he was “f***ed without his script” - on having perhaps hit the bar a bit too hard before taking to the stage.
Danny joked: “I wouldn't advise anyone to accept an award off your head. It was a nice feeling when I woke up the next morning and there was an award by my bed and I thought, 'I done it!'”
Wednesday night’s Inside Soap Awards marked another great night for ‘EastEnders’, and for Danny, who scooped the Best Actor prize for his portrayal of Mick Carter.
