David Beckham has shared a photo of a fan riding a scooter with a baby between her knees – as she takes a picture of the world's most famous footballer.
The sight astonished David so much that he posted the photo to his Facebook page along with the message: "I'm all for fans taking a picture but not so sure this is the safest way to do it!"
It was taken in Vietnam, as David is touring Asia to promote his new brand of whisky.
And it has provoked widespread outrage online – as well as potentially landing the scooter rider in hot water for breaking the law.
The chief of Hanoi's traffic police said the woman could face a hefty fine for not wearing a helmet and for using a mobile phone while driving.
On David's Facebook page, the photo received more than 18,000 comments, with some expressing shock that the woman was acting so carelessly.
One user said: "She is so irresponsible."
Another said: "So sad, only in Vietnam."
A third user added: "It's normal practice over here, so many kids killed on bikes and cars by their parents disregard for their safety and wellbeing."
David took the photo when he was in Vietnam last week and he has since travelled across Asia.
He said: "I had such a great time visiting China, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore and South Korea during my Haig Club Launch in Asia."
According to the World Health Organisation, around 14,000 people lose their lives each year in Vietnam as a result of road traffic crashes.
