So, What Was Cameron Overheard Saying About John Terry?
|

David Cameron has been overheard criticising footballer John Terry during the G8 summit, according to off-mic comments overheard by those sleuths over at ITV News.

Speaking to German chancellor Angela Merkel ahead of the Champions League final in Munich on Saturday evening, the prime minister was heard saying it was "good" he was not playing for Chelsea in the match.

Merkel: John Terry is not there..

Cameron: That's good

Merkel: Don't you like him?

The prime minister then appears to indicate Terry has said some "bad things". Terry has been charged and is due to stand trial after allegedly racially abusing Anton Ferdinand.

This gaffe might have made the PM more popular - with tweeters roundly suggesting it could even boost his poll ratings. See below for a selection of the best comments.
