David Davies MP Tells Radio Caller To 'Join The BNP' Following Welsh Language Row

LISTEN: Tory MP Tells Caller To 'Join The BNP' Following Welsh Language Row

Conservative MP David Davies told a Welsh caller to "go and join the BNP" in the midst of a furious debate on Wales when he appeared on Jeremy's Vine Radio 2 show.

Discussing the value of the Welsh language on Tuesday, Davies got embroiled in a heated debate with Maureen Boyardy, of Treorchy, Wales, who cannot speak Welsh but believed it was a shame that the language was dying out.

Ms Boyardy forcefully made the case that all public sector workers in Wales should be able to speak the language.

"If you are living in Wales, you come under our Welsh nationality," she claimed.

Strongly disagreeing with the caller, Davies then accuses her of representing a "mad, chippy, anti-English," view of the world.

"Were you born in Wales, Mr Davies?" the 65-year-old then asked. When Davies responds no, Ms Boyardy brands him English, to which he takes exception.

Davies, who said that he is proud to be Welsh and British, then loses his temper with the way Ms Boyardy speaks to him, telling her to "go and join the BNP where you belong."

The Monmouth MP, who was born in London but fully identifies himself as Welsh, accused the caller of being part of a sector of the Welsh public who "[blame] all of the world's problems on the English."
