Don't believe in Father Christmas and his reindeer? You may have to reconsider.
Because, yes, a deer has appeared on a roof. In the village of Verneuil-sur-Indre in central France, to be precise.
Locals think that the stag climbed up on the garage roof via the neighbouring garden - and was then unable to escape because of slippery roof tiles.
"He tried hard to turn back but slipped and was lying on the roof. We had to find a solution," the town’s mayor, Philippe Bruneau, told BFMTV.
That solution turned out to be Bruneau, a member of a hunting federation and a team of firefighters using a long broom to nudge the deer towards a tarpaulin they laid on the roof. As you can see from the (slightly nerve-wracking) video above.
"In my 12 years in office, I've had to track down a wolf, and now rescue a deer from a roof. Not bad," said Bruneau.
Not bad, indeed. Bravo, people of Verneuil-sur-Indre. And don't do it again, Monsieur le cerf.
