Questioning of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange over a sex allegation has been delayed by a month.

He was due to be asked questions inside the Ecuadorean Embassy in London next week.

The questions will be submitted by Swedish prosecutors.

Ecuador's attorney general's office announced that the questioning has been postponed to mid November to ensure that Mr Assange's lawyer can attend.

The Australian has been living inside the embassy for over four years and has been granted political asylum by Ecuador.

He denies the allegation but believes that if he goes to Sweden he will be extradited to the United States for questioning over the activities of WikiLeaks.

A spokesman for Mr Assange's legal team said: "The attorney general's office of Ecuador considered that a deferment was necessary to ensure the presence of Mr Assange's attorneys."
