A diner owner in Portland, Maine has been defended by her own customers after shouting at a screaming child.
Darla Neugebauer chose to take verbal action after the child's parents ordered three pancakes and then didn't feed them to the girl, causing her to get upset.
Neugebauer was later confronted by the parents on Facebook which lead to a heated argument on the social networking site. Amidst the war of words, thousands of customers and users of the site jumped to the business owner's defense.
The owner does not regret a thing about the incident
Discussing the confrontation, a defiant Neugebauer said to local news team WCSH6: "Life's full of choices and you've got to live with all of them. I chose to yell at a kid.
"It made her shut-up, which made me happy, it made my staff happy, it made the 75 other people dining here happy, and they left, they may never come back, other people may not come in. Their loss really."

The mother of the child told her side of the story to the local news team WCSH6 and said: "I turned to my daughter and I was like 'listen, this is how I'm raising you not to be as an adult. like, you will never be like this when you get older.'"
"I felt helpless as a mum that, you know, I couldn't do anything to help her, because I can't explain why there's crazy people in this world that behave like that."
Marcy's Diner is still receiving a huge volume of support from the users of Facebook, some posts reading: "I would have done the same thing" and "you did very well... children in the USA are spoilt brats!."
