Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana were honoured guests at the V&A's Glamour of Italian Fashion soiree on Tuesday night in London. While the talk was all luxe fabulousness - the designer duo also spoke out about Victoria Beckham's fashion empire.
"She's a friend" Gabbana said. "She make a good job but... for us, she don't make the same way like a fashion designer." Natch.
The Telegraph reports that Gabbana went on to say:
She's a fashion designer but it's another... it's different. John Galliano is a designer... Alexander McQueen
If there was any question of this being a loaded compliment, Dolce came in with the final blow by likening La Beckham's collections to that of high street brands Zara and H&M.
Man, those Italians don't hold back. That said, there's no denying VB has more than earned her stripes in the industry and her sell-out silhouettes have been worn by some of the world's most famous women.
Her catwalk presentations are a highlight on the New York Fashion Week schedule (best FRow scene ever) and she's opening her first London store this year. As for this critique from Dolce and Gabbana? She'll take it like a lady.
