A 27-year-old woman has been remanded in custody after appearing in court following an incident outside Downing Street.

Denise Gardiner confirmed her name, date of birth and that she currently does not have an address as she appeared in the dock at Westminster Magistrates' Court in London.

She has been charged with possession of a bladed article in a public place at a highly restricted area in Westminster on February 24.
