Downton's Dan Reveals Two Stone Weight Loss

If you thought ex 'Downton Abbey' star Dan Stevens was looking more svelte these days, you'd be right, as he has revealed he's lost more than two stone.

Dan - who quit the ITV period drama last year - is looking even more dashing than he was as Matthew Crawley after shedding the pounds, having put himself on a strict regime for a film role.

“I’ve lost about 30lbs since New Year, which, in British terms, is about two to three chins,” he told Graham Norton on his BBC chat show.

“It was for a role. It’s always me, just different incarnations, different roles, different costumes and different sizes. As for the hair, it’s pretty much my natural colour. I went very dark for the last role but I’ll see where I go with it.”

Dan is currently promoting his new film, 'Summer in February', where he plays one third of a love triangle, set amongst the wild and bohemian Lamorna Group of artists, who've set up their community along the Cornwall coastline of 1913.

Speaking about his decision to leave 'Downton' and pursue film roles, he added: “Of course it was my decision, a very difficult one too, but it felt like the right thing to do. It was good to trust my instincts and go with it. I knew Matthew would die, but not like that necessarily.”

'The Graham Norton Show' is on BBC One and BBC One HD, tonight at 10.35pm.
