RuPaul’s Drag Race UK queen Bimini Bon Boulash has revealed how their runway presentation was supposed to go down, following this week’s episode.

In the second instalment of the new series, the queens were tasked with putting together a reveal on the mainstage, following their performances in Rats: The Rusical.

Bimini walked the runway in a white corset with black balloons attached, that had been filled with paint, which was supposed to splatter her outfit when they popped them.

Unfortunately, things didn’t quite go to plan, with Bimini revealing on Twitter that their intention with the catwalk reveal had been to show solidarity with the trans community.

Posting a video of themself walking down the street with a transgender pride flag, Bimini wrote on Twitter: “On that stage the nerves got to me and it flopped but F*CK IT!!!! We make mistakes, we learn, we grow and we never use latex balloons again!!!! It’s a shame because in my head it was gonna be a moment. PLOT TWIST It wasn’t!

“My idea was originally to paint my body in the colours of the trans* flag because I wanted to celebrate the beauty of being Trans and non-binary. As a person that identifies as fluid when it comes to gender I’ve experienced a lot of mental abuse, as well as physical abuse over the years due to my gender expression.

“To be trans is to be yourself and being yourself is beautiful. We need to learn to love, celebrate and protect each other from all forms of oppression and hatred.”

Bimini continued: “The existence of Trans and Non-Binary people has been a hot topic in the UK media lately, often being debated without taking in lived experiences of someone that identifies as trans or non-binary. They should be celebrated, not feared.

“Our human experience is far more complex than the binary allows. If we limit ourselves to social norms… how boring would that be? No matter your gender identity, know what you will forever have my love and support…even if I f*cked up my reveal!”

The drag performer then posted a photo of how their outfit was supposed to look, adding: “As a non binary bad bitch I wanted to celebrate the beauty of trans and non-binary. TRANS RIGHTS FOREVER AND ALWAYS!”

Fortunately for Bimini, their performance in Rats: The Rusical meant that they were saved from the bottom two, having lip synced against Joe Black a week earlier.

Instead, it was Tayce and Cherry Valentine who went head to head, with the latter being told by RuPaul to sashay away.

Meanwhile, Veronica Green was the top queen of the week, impressing Ru, Michelle Visage, Alan Carr and guest judge Sheridan Smith with her performance in the Rusical and her Stepford Wives-inspired runway.

RuPaul’s Drag Race UK continues on Thursday on BBC Three.
