These incredible pictures capture the moment a Florida woman pulled her car over on a motorway to give her five-month-old nephew the kiss of life after he stopped breathing.
Moments before, 37-year-old Pamela Rauseo had been driving along Miami's Dolphin Expressway with her baby nephew, Sebastian de la Cruz, who was born prematurely and has suffered respiratory problems.
During the drive she came to the horrifying realisation that the little boy was not breathing. Immediately, she swung the car off of the road and screeched to a halt.
Acting on instinct, she took Sebastian out of the car and began to perform CPR on the unconscious five-month old by the roadside, all the while screaming for assistance from fellow drivers.
Her desperate cries for help quickly drew an answer from passers by. One woman, Lucila Godoy, pulled up and left her own toddler in the car to rush to Pamela's aid and help get Sebastian breathing again. Others stopped to call the emergency services.
The driver of the car behind Pamela saw the emergency unfolding and leapt out of his car, rushing from car to car until he found a police officer.
In the heat of the terrifying moment, Pamela had no way of knowing that the man in the car behind her who got out to help was a Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist - Miami Herald photographer Al Diaz.
At first, photography was the last thing on Al's mind. But as Officer Amauris Bastidas arrived on the scene, quickly followed by other emergency services, Al's journalistic instincts returned.
"As a photojournalist you want to capture these images, but as a human being you want to get help," Al told the New York Daily News. He captured these breathtaking images of the baby's aunt and her rescuers in a raw moment of anguish.
Thankfully, Sebastian arrived safely at hospital, where he is now in a stable condition.
