British pop stars Duran Duran have axed the remaining dates of their world tour after keyboardist Nick Rhodes failed to recover from an illness.
Duran Duran have brought an early end to their world tour
The band cancelled four U.S. shows over the last week after Rhodes fell sick, but they were hoping he would be better in time for the upcoming Canadian leg of the tour.
However, doctors have now confirmed Rhodes is not yet well enough to get back to work and the group has been forced to scrap a show in Chicago, Illinois on Wednesday, and two dates in Ontario on Friday and Saturday.
The musicians have apologised to their fans and revealed they are "devastated" not to be able to finish the tour.
A statement posted on the band's website reads, "With just one week to go before the final dates of their two year All You Need Is Now world tour... Duran Duran have been forced to cancel the remaining shows on the concluding North American leg, because keyboardist Nick Rhodes is too unwell to perform...
Nick Rhodes hasn't rallied in time for the band to continue their tour
"Rhodes, who has been unwell now for over a week, was advised by doctors... that he is not yet ready to perform, as he is still experiencing the same symptoms that have kept him from the stage for the last few nights.
"The band are devastated that what has been a triumphant tour for them... has ended this way - and know that the fans will be as disappointed as they are. Nick held out all week, hoping that he would be well enough to perform again for these final few shows, but unfortunately the medical advice he has been given today requires him to continue to rest."
