A love letter written by a four-year-old fighting cancer has gone viral thanks to his effortless way with words and original idea for a first date.
The letter addressed to a four-year-old girl called Baily, was written by a boy named Bennet.
"Baily," the note reads.
"Will you please come to my house? Let's play together. I think you are pretty like a horse or a ladybug. I'm not sure which. You should come to my house and eat cheeses with me. I love you and I lost a tooth last night. I think I would like to do a magic trick for you and then let you watch me battle robots."
It is signed 'Love, Bennet'.
The letter was shared on Reddit by a friend of Bennet's mum Jennifer on Thursday November 20 with the caption 'If only adults could communicate this well'.
Four days later it had been viewed more than 635,000 times, with commenters remarking that Bennet's unusual idea for a first date was far better than many a dull date they've endured as an adult.
"You had me at cheeses," writes one commenter.
Another added: "He snuck that 'I love you' in like a pro."
Jennifer told Buzzfeed that Bennet got the idea to write a letter to his classmate Baily when he saw her writing an email to a friend.
"I asked him who he wanted to send a letter to and he stated, 'Baily of course'," she said. "So, he sat down next to me on the couch and dictated the letter and I typed word for word what he said."
She added that Bennet had just lost his first tooth, and he hoped this would impress Baily as he was the first child in their class to do so.
Bennet's love for Baily is even greater than his love for 'cheeses', but his mum is slightly concerned that he may be coming on a little to strong and his heartfelt declarations may be scaring off his love interest.
"Of course Baily is a bit awkward at just four years old and really doesn't know what to think about Bennet," Jennifer said. "Honestly, I think he overwhelms her a bit."
Jennifer said the positive reaction the letter has received since being shared on Reddit, has helped cheer her up while waiting for Bennet's next cancer check up.
"I have to say that the attention the letter has received has put a smile on my face, as Bennet was a very sick kid," she said. "He was diagnosed with cancer at six months old and actually goes up for one of his last cancer checks in Portland, Oregon very soon. I'm always nervous about these checks and this has been a nice distraction."
