Edinburgh Fringe Comedy: 10 Questions With Max & Ivan

'Someone Once Did A S**t Inside Our Venue'

Award-winning duo Max & Ivan are back at the Edinburgh Fringe with an epic narrative sketch comedy about a heist. Want to know more? You're in luck! The pair have just answered our 10 Quick Questions...

Pitch your Edinburgh show in 25 words or less.

Two men, hundreds of characters, billions of jokes, one extraordinary heist, 56 minutes in length (roughly).

Your best Edinburgh moment?

Winning a Foster's Comedy Award in 2011, despite Max breaking his ankle in the process - and Ivan not making it to the ceremony, as he was stuck in a cab.

And your worst?

Someone once did a shit inside our venue. A human shit. That's pretty far down in terms of life experiences actually - let alone Edinburgh.

You've got one hour free in Edinburgh - what do you do?

What's the context here? One hour free in the whole month? One hour free before our show? One hour before Edinburgh is destroyed by a comet? Regardless: take a nap.

Which Edinburgh landmark/venue/place would you give a five star review to?

We once managed to inveigle our way into the penthouse suite of The Scotsman hotel: this obviously gets an actual five stars. More generally, though, we'd have to recommend those pound shops on Nicolson Street, who field desperate prop requests from under-prepared sketch troupes throughout the first weeks of the Fringe. Those guys are doing God's work.

Give us a secret Edinburgh tip!

There's actually a Glasgow Fringe going on at the same time. And frankly, it's loads better. Get stuck in.

Deep-fried haggis or deep-fried Mars bar?

Ever tried inserting a Mars bar into a haggis, then deep-frying the lot? It's a classic.

Kilt or trousers?

Trousers. The only people with enough testosterone to pull off kilts are those grizzled elderly Scotsmen who could clearly knock out a bear with one swipe of their massive leathery hands.

Arthur's Seat or Arthur Smith?

I'd rather climb Arthur Smith.

...heterosexual."
