Elliot Page has thanked fans for their support, in his first Instagram selfie since coming out as transgender.
The Oscar-nominated actor came out earlier this month, explaining: “I want to share with you that I am trans, my pronouns are he/they and my name is Elliot.”
“I feel overwhelming gratitude for the incredible people who have supported me along this journey. I can’t begin to express how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self,” he wrote in a moving open letter.
“I’ve been endlessly inspired by so many in the trans community. Thank you for your courage, your generosity and ceaselessly working to make this world a more inclusive and compassionate place.
“I will offer whatever support I can and continue to strive for a more loving and equal society.”
Sharing a new selfie on Sunday night, the Canadian star thanked fans for their well wishes since his initial post, and teased that he would “see you in 2021”.
Elliot wrote: “From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Your love and support has been the greatest gift. Stay safe. Be there for each other.”
He also asked those who are able to support the organisation TranSanta and the US and Canadian support helpline Trans Lifeline.
Elliot rose to fame in 2007 as the lead in the film Juno, for which he was nominated for an Academy Award.
His other big-screen credits include the thrillers Hard Candy, Inception and the comedy Whip It.
More recently, he appeared in the Netflix series The Umbrella Academy and Tales Of The City.
He also fronted and executive produced the Viceland documentary Gaycation, which explored queer culture around the globe.
