‘The Crown’ has added another star to its ever-growing cast, with ‘Call The Midwife’ star Emerald Fennell set to play Camilla Parker-Bowles in the Netflix period drama.

The third series of ‘The Crown’ will see the entire royal family being recast, with TV Line revealing that Emerald will play Camilla in scenes where she first meets her future husband, Prince Charles, played by Bafta nominee Josh O’Connor.

She said: “I’m absolutely over the moon, and completely terrified, to be joining so many hugely talented people on ‘The Crown’.

“I absolutely love Camilla, and am very grateful that my teenage years have well prepared me for playing a chain-smoking serial snogger with a pudding bowl hair cut.

Emerald previously played nurse Patsy Mount for four years in ‘Call The Midwife’, a role she stepped down from in 2017.

‘The Crown’ will fast-forward to the 1970s for its upcoming third series, which is expected to begin streaming on Netflix next year.

British actress Olivia Colman will take over the role of Queen Elizabeth II for the upcoming series, while Tobias Menzies will step into Matt Smith’s shoes as Prince Philip.

The cast will also include Helena Bonham Carter, who we should expect to be a scene-stealer as Princess Margaret, with Marion Bailey also joining cast as the Queen Mother.

Showrunner Peter Morgan has also spoken of his intention to keep the cast the same for the next two series, before bringing in a whole new set of actors for the planned final two series.
