England's first Euro 2012 match last night drew more viewers than the final of Britain's Got Talent.
Overnight audience figures show a peak of 15.3 million were watching the conclusion of the game - more than the climax of the talent contest.
The 1-1 draw against France gave ITV1 its largest peak of the year so far.
The match had an average audience of 12.3 million from kick-off to the final whistle.
The figures beat any of the matches screened by the station during Euro 2008, although England failed to qualify for that competition.
